Taqueria has long been on my list. Elated that I was able to cross it off that list, but need another trip because it was so damn good. Guacamole was incredible, some of the best I've had in a long time. Tacos? Pork is a MUST HAVE. I loved the Barbacoa as well. The steak was delicious, as was the cactus (yes, cactus. Tasted like fajita peppers).
The place is super tiny, so expect to wait for a table. But I absolutely loved it. -

Holy crap this place is phenomenal.
Okay, I'll be blunt - this isn't exactly a 5-star, white tablecloth sort of place. It's dingy and kinda low to the ground, like it's a hole in the wall that's also sorta buried in the ground. This place seems sketchy.
Thing is, the food here is AMAZING. The tacos are, by far, some of the best I've ever had on the East Coast. I, along with many others, got a huge take-out order, and we were damn near silent enjoying the amazingness of the tacos alone (not to mention the other food). It was just freakin' excellent.
I could see going all the way to Jersey City just for the tacos here - they're that good. -

I've only come here a couple of times and their tacos and quesadillas are amazing! I love going to los tacos but when I feel like staying in jersey city, this is my favorite Mexican spot.
Food:
Their steak is cooked just right, topped with a nice spicy sauce!
Customer service:
I came here last Friday with a friend and my boyfriend was running 20 minutes late. I asked the hostess how long the wait time is for a party of 3 and she said 45 minutes. But she said she wouldn't put our names down till the third person was here. The whole outside seating area was almost completely open. So we said we will just take a table for two and the hostess kept saying that the third person can't join after. It was frustrating dealing with the hostess especially when there's a whole outdoor seating area that's open. Also they don't have heating outside so it's probably worth eating in or taking the food to go.
However the waiter we had was awesome. He regularly checked on us, brought our food quick considering we were out in the cold, and he brought extra salsa for the chips.
Overall I come here for the food and the atmosphere. -

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, Taqueria is the place for you.
Food:
The chips and salsa they give in the beginning are addicting because of how good they are! We decided to get the guac, it was good, a classic. I decided to get a bistec (steak) and carnitas (pork) taco. I got the bistec taco spicy and the heat was great, not too spicy where I couldn't taste the meat. The carnitas taco was so good I ordered another because of how tender and juicy the meat was. The bistec quesadilla was alright but I wouldn't get it again. The steak felt a little chewy and the flavors fell a little flat.
Drinks:
Love the margaritas from here because they always pack a punch! I always ask for a sugar rim instead of salt but that's all up to your preference.
Price:
Tacos (all): $3.75
Margarita: $8.00
Extra order of chips and salsa: $2.50
Guac and chips: $7.50
Bistec Quesadilla: $6.95
Vibe:
The inside of Taqueria can feel a little small and crowded but the outside seating area is perfect. The staff is super attentive and I've never had to wait too long for them if I needed something. While the wait for a table can be long, it's definitely worth it. Most of the staff speaks English and Spanish so it's a great plus. -

Omg! Probably the best Mexican food I have had in New York/New Jersey!
Spicy to perfection, this hole in the wall boasts of authentic home recipes.
Great drink, dirt cheap prices!! No wonder this place is always full.
Its loud, don't expect service perfection or anything fancy. Just grab a spot and order the whole menu!!
$3.25 fish tacos were the world!!! Such a good juicy fish... wow...
GUACAMOLE was perfection with a hint of mango, cilantro and finely chopped chillies.
We also ordered tostadas which were small but filling when mixed with guac, tacos.
If in Jersey, do try this spot.
